Highway & Roadway Construction

Roadway reconstruction, widening and interchanges delivered under traffic.

We build roadway projects that stay open while they are rebuilt. That means knowing where the utilities are before the first cut, staging construction to keep access to every driveway and business, and holding grade with 3D machine control instead of stakes and hope.

Scope of work

  • Roadway excavation, embankment and structural fill
  • Crushed base and asphalt or concrete pavement
  • Storm drainage, culverts and water quality treatment
  • Retaining walls and slope stabilization
  • Signals, illumination and intelligent transportation systems
  • ADA-compliant pedestrian and bicycle facilities

Technical capabilities

  • GPS 3D machine control and automated paving
  • Work-zone traffic control and temporary signals
  • Deep utility relocation and conflict resolution
  • Pervious and low-impact drainage systems
  • Night and weekend paving operations
  • Subgrade stabilization and geogrid reinforcement

The corridor stays open

Roadway work is a public-relations job disguised as a construction job. We start with a traffic management plan that the owner, emergency services and adjacent businesses have actually read, then build the schedule around the constraints it creates. Lane closures are planned in windows, not improvised on the morning of the pour.

Grade control and compaction

Our grading crews run 3D machine control on dozers, excavators and graders. That reduces staking, improves accuracy through complex intersections and lets the survey team verify rather than chase the machine. Structural fill is placed in lifts with density testing tied to the specification, not the calendar.

Utilities before pavement

The most expensive roadway surprises live underground. We perform potholing and utility coordination during preconstruction, then sequence relocations ahead of the pavement section so a relocated water main never becomes a saw-cut through new asphalt.

Paving and public interface

Asphalt and concrete crews work nights and weekends when the corridor demands it. We maintain access to driveways, mail service and transit stops, and we keep a public information line staffed for the duration of the project.

How does a contractor get on the Craneway Civil Construction bid list?
Submit the enquiry form on our contact page with your trade, license numbers and a current certificate of insurance. Our estimating team reviews new subcontractors and suppliers weekly. Once approved, you will be added to the bid list for the scopes that match your capabilities and will receive invitations through our estimating system.
What is Craneway Civil Construction’s bonding capacity?
We maintain a $150 million aggregate bonding capacity with a $60 million single-project limit through our surety. Current bonding and financial references are included in our prequalification packet, which can be requested from our estimating team.
Do you self-perform concrete, earthwork and pipeline work?
Yes. Craneway Civil Construction directly employs concrete, carpentry, excavation, paving and pipeline crews. We self-perform the structural concrete, earthwork and underground work that sits on the critical path. Mechanical and electrical work is performed by long-term subcontractor partners who are integrated into preconstruction.
How do you handle traffic control and public impact?
Traffic control is planned during preconstruction with the owner and the local jurisdiction, not improvised in the field. Our work plans identify lane closures, detours, access for emergency services and business entrances before mobilization. For larger corridors we provide public information support, including notices, signage and a staffed project line.
What delivery methods do you offer?
We deliver Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CM/GC and CM at Risk. Our preconstruction team can support alternative-delivery pursuits with constructability review, open-book estimating, target-value design and GMP development.

Let’s scope the work.
